About Dougans International
Dougans International was established by Inge Dougans, founder and principal of the International Academy of Reflexology & Meridian Therapy. Similar to the Academy, the company has also become a family business in recent years with Inge’s oldest son, Daniel managing the operations and her youngest son, Thomas in charge of IT and Development.
Dougans International focuses on three main pillars of business; Education and Training (South Africa and International), Products and Complementary Therapies.
Education and Training (South Africa)
Dougans International supports the International Academy of Reflexology & Meridian Therapy in the delivery of a Diploma in Therapeutic Reflexology. Further to the Diploma in Therapeutic Reflexology, Dougans International supports the Academy in the delivery of Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses in South Africa for all therapists and practitioners wishing to broaden their skills and knowledge within their scope of practice. Dougans International welcomes any collaboration with international providers of CPD courses targeted towards health professions. We will assist in the preparation of the teaching materials, venue hire, promotion and administration in South Africa.
Education and Training (International)
Inge Dougans delivers the “X-TRA focus on…” series of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses offered by Dougans International across Europe every year, including Denmark, Germany, Italy and Poland. All teaching materials have been translated into the local languages.
Inge’s vast knowledge and unique approach by incorporating of the Meridians and the Five Elements in combination with Western observations and views is well respected and these courses have become very popular. Dougans International will continue to develop and add further courses to the series as Inge completes each course in the respective countries.
Under a license agreement, Dougans International can also offer courses within Reflexology and Meridian Therapy, as well full qualification(s), which can be tailored to suit the specific requirements of a local provider and/or association.
As an example of the above, Dougans International has entered into a license agreement with the International Medical Spa Institute (IMSI) in Tokyo, Japan for the delivery of Diploma in Reflexology. This diploma has been specially geared for the Japanese market. Dougans International provides all teaching materials, including lesson plans and guidelines for delivery. Lecturers are expected to be fully trained and high standards must be upheld in order for Dougans International to certify any graduates.

Dougans International offers a series of A1 size presentation charts, presented in a gloss finish and ideal visual aids for any treatment room. The full set includes our Reflexology, Meridian, Five Elements and Acupuncture presentation charts.
Our A4 size flip chart has been specifically designed with our students in mind. The flip-chart contains a smaller version of our most popular Reflexology, Meridian and Five Element presentation charts.
Inge Dougans’ book, Reflexology, the 5 elements and their 12 meridians – a unique approach, is a complete self-teaching guide and is the perfect handbook for beginners and students alike. It uniquely links Eastern and Western approaches to Reflexology and health, making this a comprehensive guide to using the Meridians and pressure points of the feet to treat a wide range of ailments.
Our latest edition to our product range are our funky “Reflex Feet”. These feet are ideal as a three-dimensional visual aid, or as a practice tool for students to work their treatment techniques. They have a similar consistency to human feet and are fitted with socks with the reflex chart printed on plantar and dorsal regions.
Complementary Therapies
Dougans International specialises in complementary and alternative healing principles.
The Dougans International Vacuflex Concepts uses a vacuum boot foot reflexology treatment together with a vacuum cupping treatment sequence along the acupuncture meridians that transverse the whole body, offering the combined benefit of a full reflexology treatment, plus the stimulation of all the major meridians in one session.
The Dougans International Magnetic Healing is a powerful complementary device that helps to restore depleted magnetic energy levels in the body. This therapy produces astonishing results and can be used as a stand-alone treatment or as support to Reflexology, Acupuncture and/or other alternative therapies.
